About the Job
Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at UChicago Medicine as a Senior Analyst, HR Analytics and Insights in the HR Information Technology & Insights - Hyde Park department. This position is fully remote, and you may be based outside of Chicagoland.
In this role, the Senior Analyst under general direction provides advanced analytical expertise to transform complex workforce data into meaningful insights that support organizational decision-making. The position independently develops and delivers workforce analytics, dashboards, reports, and data solutions; integrates and analyzes information from multiple HR and business systems; and ensures the accuracy, consistency, and quality of workforce information. The Senior Analyst partners with HR and business stakeholders to understand business needs, identify workforce trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate analytical findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations. The position serves as a senior technical and analytical resource within HR Analytics & Insights and contributes to the continued development and improvement of enterprise workforce analytics and reporting capabilities.
Essential Job Functions
Independently design, develop, maintain, and deliver complex workforce analytics, dashboards, recurring and ad hoc reports, and data solutions that support HR and organizational decision-making. Integrate and analyze data from multiple HR and business systems, apply appropriate analytical methods, and translate business requirements into scalable and effective reporting solutions. Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting processes and solutions.
Conduct advanced workforce analysis to identify and quantify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities across key workforce areas such as attraction, retention, turnover, mobility, performance, engagement, and labor utilization. Interpret findings within the context of business and workforce priorities and develop actionable insights and recommendations for HR and business stakeholders.
Partner directly with HR and business stakeholders to understand workforce questions, define analytical and reporting requirements, and recommend appropriate data and analytics solutions. Consult with stakeholders on metric definitions, data interpretation, reporting capabilities, and limitations to ensure solutions effectively address business needs.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of workforce analytics and reporting through data validation, reconciliation, quality review, and documentation. Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, identify opportunities to improve data quality and reporting processes, and support the consistent application of workforce measures and definitions across analytical solutions.
Develop and maintain workforce datasets, queries, data models, and analytical solutions using enterprise HR and workforce data sources. Understand and apply source-system structures, relationships, and business rules; troubleshoot data and integration issues; and partner with HR Technology, Information Technology, and other data owners to support reliable and effective use of workforce data for analytics and reporting.
Serve as a senior technical and analytical resource within HR Analytics & Insights, providing guidance on complex analytical, reporting, and data-related issues. Share knowledge and best practices, support the development of team capabilities, and provide technical guidance and quality review to analysts as appropriate. Contribute to the development and consistent application of analytical methods, documentation, and reporting practices across the team.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field
Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in HR analytics, workforce reporting, business intelligence, data management, or a related field, including experience independently leading complex analytics and reporting initiatives
Advanced proficiency with SQL, enterprise reporting and data visualization tools, relational data models, and large, complex datasets
Strong knowledge of workforce metrics, data quality, validation and reconciliation practices, and the appropriate handling of sensitive workforce information
Demonstrated ability to apply established data definitions, governance standards, and privacy and security requirements to workforce analytics and reporting
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex workforce data and analytical findings and communicate them clearly to HR and business stakeholders
Ability to translate analysis into meaningful insights, recommendations, presentations, and data visualizations appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong understanding of HR business processes and workforce measures, with the ability to connect workforce data and analytical findings to business operations, organizational priorities, and workforce outcomes
Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with HR, business, technology, and other cross-functional stakeholders
Ability to consult with stakeholders, understand business needs, manage competing requirements, and influence analytical approaches and solutions through data and subject-matter expertise
Demonstrated ability to independently plan and lead complex analytics and reporting initiatives from requirements through delivery, including managing priorities, coordinating with stakeholders, resolving issues, and delivering high-quality solutions within established timelines
Strong analytical judgment, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex workforce and data-related issues, evaluate alternative approaches and develop practical, data-informed solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare workforce analytics, including analysis of staffing, turnover, vacancy, recruitment, or labor utilization in a complex healthcare organization
Experience developing and maintaining Tableau dashboards, including calculated fields, data sources, and row-level security
Experience with Oracle Cloud HCM data and reporting tools, including Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) and BI Publisher
Experience working with enterprise data warehouses and integrating and reconciling data across multiple HR and business systems, including applying effective-dated data and source-system business rules
Experience automating recurring reporting and data preparation using SQL, Excel Power Query, or comparable tools, with documented validation and quality-control processes

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
